2/1 Cornfed Questions

Ok, got some questions:

Does installing this void warranty: No, unless the warranty work is on the suspension and they can prove the fault is due to the spacers.

How much should a shop charge to install this?

Does it ride like stock still, or is there stiffness?

Is there a decrease in the MPG?

Does a 4th gen look funny with this lift without increasing tire size?

Is it stupid to want this simply for the looks (as I don't want to put in bigger wheels... at least for now)

Will I feel a difference in roll on turns?

Does this increase the chance of rollover by a significant amount?

Is there anything I should know that I may have missed either in these questions or in the many forum posts I read?

It is more stiff

Maybe 1mpg, but I put on 265/70 after the lift

Not at all

With all your concerns, you would probably be better off with a 1 inch level kit for the front end only. The ride will not change, and it will look much better than stock.

I'm going to start with just a 1" kit that is sitting on my desk as we speak. If I feel the need I'll go up to a 2/1 lift . I dont want to change the ride and handling , but want a little better look & stance and a little more clearance up front.


I dont feel the need to go up anymore at this point.

Just get one , they are pretty cheap. Start from there like I am doing.

My opinion......the 1" front leveling kit will be noticed by no one (no offense Falls. Even with my 2" lift in the front, other 4Runner owners rarely see a difference.

If you're going for looks, I would say minimum would be the 2"/1".

If you do the 1", then decide to increase it in the future, you'd need to buy a new set of spacers and have the shop re-install everything and charge you again.

Go with the 2"/1"....you'll be happy. I sweated the decision for months before I decided and couldn't be happier. You'll have a beefier looking truck and some usable extra space both front and rear.

No offense taken. Only people that are into trucks and especially 4R's like we are will ever notice anything. I wouldn't mind a 2/1 lift but I'm kind of happy with the way the back sits already ( plenty high for 265/70 tires) and I won't be gaining and underbody clearance in the back where the rear pumpkin is , ONLY taller tires can do that.

I also have concerns about stretching out the Xreas and the drive lines/CV joints to much farther that they should . I've heard the back rides rough with pushing it up that extra inch.

The 2/1 is the max I would go , IMO the 3/2 is pushing it as far as looks unless your will to cut and trim and stuff 285's under there. They look silly to me with running only 265/70's on them , thats just me though.

I think TomHaney just put a front level kit on his truck and I'll see what it looks like , I've also only have seen 2/1 lifts and 1" front kits with the 265/65's on them and don't like the way 265/65 look even on a stock truck .

You'd be surprised on people who are into truck ect.... notice everything , even at a stop light I look at tires , height of the truck .

I've never been a fan of big lifts . My 4R goes everywhere I need it to even in stock form with only bigger and better tires , and I go a lot of places off road locally

Maybe if I see some with 265/70's and a 2/1 and 265/70's with a 1" I'd be able to make a better decision . I'd change my mind, otherwise I'll stick with my 1" , it will be a little bit before I get the time to get it in. This kidney stone is putting me a little behind on getting it done.

I've seen it and think it looks nice , but would like to see one with the 265/70's since they fill out the wheel wells better ( for my taste ) which ad's a 1/2" of lift all they way around already.
