Was doing a tune up last night and after cleaning the MAF sensor with maf cleaner decided to clean the throttle body. Looked very similar to the 22re that I have done before. After trying to get the metal tube off that runs across to the throttle body I ended up giving up. The throttle body has 2 clamps and about 5 inches of hose and then it goes to the metal tube that needs to come off and the metal tube goes to a metal tank. I can't see any mounts for the tube or the tank. Any help would be appreciated. Don't want to pull the whole throttle body.
On a second subject the original owner had taken very good care of it from the looks of the 4runner but always did his own maint. When changing the plugs last night I could not believe how hard they were to get out. After loosening, every turn was very tight the whole way out. I was worried about them being cross threaded. Anyway I get them out and they are NGK plugs just like what I am replacing with and they are supposed be gapped at .031 and they are like 052. I am hoping that he gapped them at .046 (the 3.4l plug gap by mistake) Otherwise these could be the original? The wires have been replaced because they are sumitomos. What kind of problems or damage could of been done with the wrong plug gap or leaving the plug in forever? Excess Carbon build up? Thanks Also I have changed all fluids and fuel filter. I think the only maint. he was doing was engine oil. I have only put around 700 miles on it so far. At least I know everything is done now. Was going to clean throttle body because mileage is poor. Probably plugs.
