2" Body Lifts

Hey folks!

I was looking to get a little more clearance on the runner. I currently have the camburg set up ( Coilovers and UCA ) In the rear are the OME set up. I want a little bit more space between the wheel and the fender to tuck a little bit more. Attached is the best side profile I can get.

What are the BL company/Manuf. out there for our 3rd gens? I heard about the 4crawler but its a little confusing to me. Also, If I do the 2" BL, I will need bumper brackets for the front to get it to line up with the body, correct? Those with Body Lifts, I was wondering if you can post some pics up so that I can get an idea of what it would look like.

Hit this link and read the install for 1" BL vs a 2" or more. I went with a 1" BL to avoid the hassle of radiator, windshield wash reservoir, etc... from what research I did on BL's I decided the 3-3.5" suspension lift achieved by the toytec Ultimate kit was enough when combined with the 1" BL. I fit 33's on 1" spacers with no problems. I am not sure how much lift you have now but depending on what size tires you are planning on running you might not want to mess with a 2" BL. Espec. if you plan on installing yourself. BTW if you have significant rust, the rag joint spacer is a PITA There is a bolt sleeve in the rag and my bolt was rusted in to the sleeve. Bloody knuckles and a lot of swearing got it eventually. Also depending how much suspension lift you have, consider a differential drop if there is not yet one installed.

Bumper brackets are $20 or free if you have the resources to make yourself. Even with a 1" BL you will need to raise your front bumper. The rear bumper mounted to the body how ever comes up the BL
 
Hey thanks Viking!

I currently have them cranked at 2.5. I can go to 3" but do you think that would be pushing it? I think 1" would be good too, but I just dont want to regret not getting the 2" BL if I dont like the 1".

I was wondering if any one can post pics with a 2.5 - 3" suspension lift with a 1" and/or 2" BL so I can see the difference. I did a search but not much came up with pictures.

Thanks Ryhi! Thats what I was looking for. Any negs that you can think of? How does it ride? Also, what kind of BL and who did the install?
 
i have the 2" toytec body lift and 4crawler bumper brackets. body lifts do not affect the ride, you are pretty much just adding a spacer to the body. i did the install with a buddy of mine. we just followed the instructions on the toytec website.
 
ryhi since you did a 2" did you need any radiator or windshield fluid extensions, or everything that was needed came in the kit?

the kit came with the radiator drop brackets but they werent even used because i couldnt figure them out. i just remounted the radiator using the existing "guide" holes which sit a bit lower than the original mounting holes and it lined up perfectly. nothing else needed to be addressed except the front bumper lift brackets (not included with the toytec lift).
 
First, I don't have a BL but I have heard that once you install a BL, the hole to lower the spare tire doesn't line up with the tire winch.

forgot about that. you are correct. i wish i knew about that before i installed the body lift. i havent really looked into trying to take mine out yet. anyone have any ideas?

get under there with a socket wrench and extension with no socket. Stick it there and just slowly start to lower it. I found out the hard way as well.

Jeeper: I highly recommend 4Crawler's body. The site may be confusing but the product is great. I also recommend getting the heavy duty upgrade.

Hey Thanks ARKRWLR! I was looking on his site and comparing with toytec and I think I will go with 4crawler's BL. It looks and sounds good also, he has all the parts I need to cover in one shipping. How hard was your install? what special tricks or tips would you have for me? Also, what would you recommend I get with the kit. I have the following listed:

2" Bl
HD Hardware
Radiator bracket
Sterring Ext.
Shifter Ext.
Bumper Brackets

Anything else I'm missing?
 
Those of you with the 2" BL,

What did you do about the shifters? did the kit come with the proper extentions? what did you decide to do? was it something you can live with? I have an auto and I was looking at the shifter today and if the floor raises 2" then the shifter will definately need to be modded to fit.
