It was time to address the idler bearing that had been making noise for quite some time. Since I was this far in, my thinking was to just replace everything:
-timing belt and all idler/rollers
-belts
-water pump and t-stat
-crank seal
-waterpump/fan bracket bearing
-fan clutch
-toyota long-life coolant
-oil change(castrol syntec 10w-40) and new NGK plugs
I used an OTC pulley holder which did the job, but barely. The 181 ft. lbs. for the crank bolt was probably a bit of a stretch for it. Used permatex black to seal the coolant galley on #2 idler bearing which seems to have been very effective.
The fuel injection has been completely resealed on the truck and with the new timing belt on there, the 3VZE actually moves pretty well. The mpg seems to have greatly improved as well. I think this will go down in the future, as WA state keeps wanting to use more ethanol.
regards
