2 newbie questions

Hey guys! I just recently bought a 2005 4Runner and I am really enjoying it. This has been a very helpful forum because I've never had a truck or SUV before. I have a couple of questions (probably dumb ones but I'll ask anyway). I have attached a picture of a hitch cover that I bought. Is it normal to not be flush with the hitch? The cover has three holes but when it's pushed in completely, the hole doesn't line up. I have to use the second hole which makes a gap between the hitch and cover.

Second thing is that I noticed my rearview mirror (w/camera) vibrating after shifting from park to drive. It isn't bad but it is noticeable. Is this normal?

The first question I am not sure about. I have a hitch step and I have not really had any problem. I wouldn't say it fits perfectly, but it doesn't bounce around while driving.

For your second question, are you talking about the auto dimming rear view mirror with compass? If so, mine does not vibrate at any time. It should not vibrate when you shift from park to drive. Does the mirror ever stop vibrating when you are in drive?

Mark, it is the mirror with the backup camera that comes on when you put it in reverse instead of the auto dimming mirror with compass. I don't really notice it vibrating while driving but when I am stopped at a light I can see that it does vibrate. While parked at home, I looked to see if it vibrated and it didn't. Then I shifted into drive and it immediately began to vibrate. Shifting back to park made it stop again.

Is that an aftermarket item you added? I have a backup camera as well, but that displays on my navigation screen when I am in reverse. Regardless of what you have, it shouldn't vibrate when you shift into drive.

This is the mirror that was installed on it when I bought it. It is listed in the pdf brochure (the one I downloaded for this specific 4Runner) from Toyota's web site as a rearview camera mirror.
