!2 Volt power some place in dash?

Is there a place inside the dash, where you can get 12 volt power, even with the ignition switch turned completely off?

Also wondering where the best place is, to route wires through the firewall to aftermarket driving lights.

You should be able to find lots of constant 12V power in the driver's side footwell. Just use the multimeter to find one, then tap into it. Just make sure the wire is sufficient to carry the load you need (you don't mention what you plan to run off of it).

On the Camry, finding a constant 12V supply was easier than finding a switched one.

Haven't looked at the firewall to see what might be there to route wiring for the lights.

BEWARE-

Testing the srs (airbag) wires will kill the srs brain. I had this problem in my accord. I installed a hands free car kit for my cell phone. I tested a few yellow wires during the install. On the accord the yellow wires are for the srs system. I later read the shop manual to find that the first page of the electrical section of the shop manual had a large warning against doing this. The srs light was on constantly.

I had to remove everything I installed and took it to a honda dealer to change the brain (under warantee). If they only knew what I did...

I second this approach. Get a manual or run your own wires. If you poke in the wrong place you might even DEPLOY your airbag (ouch)! Even if you find a constant 12v, just arbitrarily hooking stuff to it can cause problems. You need to know if there is enough available power on that circuit to supply your load without impacting other devices, blowing fuses, and/or starting a fire.

Yeah, you're right, safer to run a wire from the battery with an inline fuse.

I'll have to pick up a Toyota Electrical manual too. Fun to see how everything is wired.
