1 Year Anniversary
My 4runner DUDES!!!
Today marks the official 2 year anniversary of the YouTube channel Tim and I started to document the maintenance & modification of the 3rd Gen Toyota 4Runner.
Thus far we have received a ton of feedback, questions & props for our efforts to add value & content to the DIY mechanic community. & we especially do it to add value to this forum.
It all started February 23rd 2016 with the Valve Cover Gasket job we did on my rig & since then we haven't stopped. I think [MENTION=120071]mtbtim[/MENTION] will agree that this has been a fun ride so far. We have had the pleasure to work together as a team to create content that delivers absolute thoroughness & attempts to leave nothing to imagination in regards to tackling an auto repair. We don't want the viewer to wonder "wait, how did they get that off?". We ourselves often use write ups & the factory service manual to guide us but lets face it, if you're brand new to turning a wrench and have never attempted a repair on your own rig before it can be a daunting task. Our mission is to show every little detail involved & although our videos may be long, they are thorough & don't leave out any of the small details. Our videos aren't for everyone & we understand that, but ultimately we want to show how to do a job from beginning to end.
So far, we have reached a milestone that we never expected. This post isn’t about touting how good we are (or to some people how good we aren’t) or the number of videos we’ve made etc, this post is about recognizing those that came before us & those that will come after us with their own contributions to this forum, other forums like tacomaworld & the Toyota community as a whole. The appreciation we have for those that have done it "first" is genuine & we truly want to give back & want to show respect for the other members here that have started the fire for great write ups & info. We want to keep that fire going.
When I was a kid (16 years old) before I got my license & could start to drive, I dreamt about what car I would get. That car happened to be a Toyota 4Runner. It was my dream car & unknowingly to me it was the best car ever made (maybe) & the only car I have ever owned thus far. The Myriad of cool people I’ve come across has been totally rad. I've made a bunch of great friends but One of the first people I linked up with from this forum was [MENTION=53337]SCRunner12[/MENTION] who at that time was giving back himself when he helped a guy in San Jose instal a lift on his own time because he's a nice guy like that. To be honest some of the best people I’ve met have been a result of one of the many mod/meet/greet days I’ve hosted at my parents house (@Cytronus [MENTION=80668]Loud Runner[/MENTION] [MENTION=76627]nor_cal51501[/MENTION] [MENTION=47794]Aznwolf118[/MENTION] & many others) & one of the most generous & totally rad dudes that I have met has been Tim [MENTION=120071]mtbtim[/MENTION]). I have always been interested in making “How To” videos to share with the world including THIS silly one about what I had learned about cleaning a MAF but DIY video production got serious when we crossed paths. We are very different people in our own quirky ways but both equally as passionate about sharing knowledge with others & helping people out. I mean heck, why not leave the world better than how you found it & in our case we are attempting to document repairs & modification that applies to 3rd generation 4runner’s specifically, but overall these repairs can apply to any Toyota!
So in closing I want to thank everyone on this forum for their contributions whether it was a write up, a simple post of a question or a response with an answer, a sick picture of your rig & maybe even the progress made through build threads & quite simply everyone's overall presence of sharing the passion for this thing we call “sick mods” on Toyota 4Runners. I hope we all can continue to help each other out with sharing our knowledge, expertise or even helping someone with a sick mod locally. Sometimes we butt heads & disagree, that’s human nature but at the end of the day if we can agree to disagree & move forward with contributing to the love of "TEQ" that is all I ask.
So Here’s to another 2 more years & beyond to documenting our love for these vehicles through our YouTube channel & our passion for the ultimate MODIFICATIONS! We have a long list of mods & events we are planning to do this year including our biggest mod/meet/greet/BBQ get together yet but I’m curious to know what we should put on our list of things to do? Any suggestions for the next "Timmy the Toolman" &sean production???
Anyways a big thank you to everyone here on this forum contributing to the overwhelming knowledge base we have here on T4R. This place definitely has a special place in my heart & rightfully so as I have only ever owned a 3rd gen 4runner not to mention I frequent this website 10x a day or more sometimes! Do I need to have an intervention???
So with my overwhelming appreciation for my good buddy Tim, I made this custom Logo.
It’s a play on “TEQ”, & anyone with the name TIM might be stoked off this. I might have been more stoked than Tim himself on this one but I’m pretty passionate about this Toyota stuff so that’s to be expected. Tim is extremely generous & gives his time & energy to so many people. Seriously this dude is a fricken' great person.
Anyways what do you guys think? Should I make a run of shirts? Would you guys rock these?....

Another thing I haven't even showed Tim yet was these custom 3D emblems I made him for a custom Satoshi grill that hopefully he will want on his new 1998 desert dune runner he got on New Years eve. Stay tuned for the finished product Timmahhh
