20.63 mpg

I drove 208 miles, about 30 of them in 4WD, in a mixed town, dirt road, secondary road setting. That mileage was between fill-ups. This was over 2 days. The gas used between fill-ups worked out to just over 10 gallons. That's 20.6 mpg. I wasn't crawling, but I did make an effort against fast starts and burning the engine.

that sounds alright..if u were doing strictly highway driving at around 65 mph..im pretty sure you can max out and push at like 21 or 22mpg with all the right tune ups and cleaning.

Ya back when I had 1" body lift 3" lift and 265/75/16 tires I made a 1500 mile trip and as long as I staid around 68-70mph I got 21mpg Note 3 adults and a weeks worth of stuff.

now with 2" body lift 3" lift 255/85/16 mud tires I get 14-15 mpg every day driving haven't been on a long trip and that dose not take into account the speedo correction that might put me at 16-17 mpg not bad IMO

Good work with you guys, as well. I'm quite satisfied, as this is about the same mpg as I got in my CR-V. Keep in mind I drove my CR-V like a car and I drive the 4Runner like a truck. If I drove like I do in the 4Runner in the CR-V I'd feel like an idiot or a senior. Somehow a truck lets me feel comfortable with slow starts, etc.

:girl:NOVA SCOTIA in the the house lol I just switched from a rav I am much happier and have been impressed with my milage I managed 20 in the city and 23 hwy driving, this only based on the first 500 km, I am just happy being able to climb hills without gearing down

Nice! I switched from a CR-V and the Runner driving experience is a dream in comparison. I hate being in the CR-V now, even though I only drive it here and there trying to sell it.

You are in Canada? You aren't, by any chance, measuring in Imperial gallons are you? Because Imperial gallons are bigger.

I average about 15mpg, that is 210 miles on 14 gallons or so of gas.
Also, I drive hard.

I have a CR-V too and I agree, the 4runner is so much better and funner to drive - even after ownig it for so many years. I sure don't hate the CR-V when I get 410 miles on 13.5 gallons though!

most ive ever goten was 23.4. I was towing my jetski which is a ~the weight of 4 200 lbs adult + camping gear for a couple days at the lake. I was going from mammoth to sacramento. 8000ft down to 1500 over the course of 200 miles. going 60 + gravity working with you the whole way. Havent seen anything like that since haha. this was before i got bigger tires too

Most I've gotten on my v6 auto 2wd is 18.4 mpg. I'm using a spreadsheet to keep track of my fuel economy since I bought her a month ago. Average so far is about 17.4.

I don't have my converter handy but 20.63 miles per imperial gallon probably works out to in the 16 - 19 statute MPG range which is right in the normal range for a 4runner outside of the city. :shrug:

FWIW I've gotten 23+ MPG (statute miles) but that was under ideal conditions: Flat road, no stops, cruise control, 65 mph. On more mountainous roads I've gotten in the high 19's or low 20s.

But then again, I drive like an old lady so that's probably why!

I was using the right numbers for mpg. However, that was the first week with the Runner, and I was driving it gentle like a grandma would. Now I can't seem to get anything other than 16.
