20" wheels on the beach

Had some fun on the beaches today.:)Saw this guy on the way home.:eek:

Awesome! Looks like a great day. Question - how are those tires working out for you? They look nice, but they also look noisy. One of the things I am enjoying about my 4Runner is how quiet it is. Don't want to mess that up, but I also want wider tires.

The tires are about as quite as the stock tires. There is a little bit more noise around the 75-80mph then there is with the stock tires, but to be honest my wife and son didn't really notice the noise difference. For everyday driving I keep them aired up to 37lbs and for beach driving I air them down to 20lbs.They work awesome in the deep soft sand.My 4runner performs better then all of my trucks that i have owned with 16-17 inch tires on the beach!:thumb3:
I can't believe I hit not just one but two birds driving yesterday on the highway.:eek:The white spot on the hood is where I struck the first bird.
 
Looks awesome. I can't wait to get my T4R out on the beach this summer in NC. I need to fab a setup like Harper's to easily raise and lower air pressure.
 
What beach are you on? I was planning to go to Hatteras (Avon) in a few weeks with my Limited... I've got stock tires tho, Bridgestone Dueler H/T... Could also have a trip in the near future to Carolina Beach. Pretty deep sand at both places.

Cape Hatteras, Frisco beaches. Pretty much all the ramps that were open.
 
Street tires are usually fine on beaches, but the ones that come stock on our 4runner's are really narrow and when aired down might not provide enough flotation in the deep sand.I guess there is only one way to find out.:biggrin2:
 
Bring a small shovel and some planks just in case.. and make sure you have a compressor to air back up. I buried my TE to the frame when I went in some real soft sand on the beach in Hawaii. But I dug out and placed some rocks and planks and was home free... after 4 hr of digging.:redbrick: haha But If I remember correctly the sand is more course there then here.. Good luck I cant wait to get back over to that side of the world..
 
Moon Roof Deflector?

Sweet wheels. Great picture, too. I know this is off topic, but I noticed you have installed an air deflector in front of the moon roof. How's that working out? I've been thinking of doing the same on my mag gray SR5. Just curious if you would recommend it? Does it really reduce noise in the cabin? Thanks.

Thanks.I like driving around with the moon roof open and it does seem to help cut down on some of the wind noise.Wasn't too sure if I liked the way it looked in the beginning,but I don't regret putting it on.
