200 miles into a new SC with no knock

And now all of a sudden I start getting knock codes every couple of miles

Or intake mods? I was getting some knocking when I first installed mine with the deck plate. Went back to the stock air box and has been fine ever since. Definitely noticed a loss in power, but max hp was never my goal. Just wanted to get back the power I lost with lift, armor and tires. Have that now and then some. Very happy.

Are you running high octane and or any fueling upgrades?

I only run 93 from a local bp station

The only thing I did was replace the inline fuel filter

I did install the 2.2 pulley right of the get go, swapped it back to stock last nite. No difference.

I did try IK22 after the horror started. No difference.

Seems like 2000 rpms is the magic spot, I can’t hear anything I can do it in the driveway with hood up watching torquepro and manually operating the throttle.

I ordered a couple OEM knock sensors and the wire harness last nite... should be a fun weekend project. I will need some me gaskets as well.

Nope the intake, Bone stock.

how many miles are on your truck?
my knock sensor went out around 220k - but supercharger was on for over a year.

178K

my plan

take the charger off and put the stock intake back on

burn up some gas and see if I continue to get the bank 2, sensor 2 knock code. if I still get it... sensors and wire harness. drive it around and make sure I don't get that code.

if it goes away... that is a harder call I guess. I was hoping to do headers for sure then 7th if needed. I would try the headers first to see if does anything.

yes I agree it might just be the knock sensor/wire harness.

I bet it's one of the sensors, the harness or both.

Don't the knock sensors only kick in at 3k+ anyway?

Also, it's possible the engine was still adjusting those first 200 miles. How about going stock pulley then pulling the battery for 20 min, then giving the truck a chance to relearn?

I pulled the battery and let it sit overnight, I’m lazy and slow. Then I replaced the 2.2 pulley with the stock pulley. Knock code right away, @ 2000k rpm.

Honestly I have never seen any official Toyota information regarding knock sensor RPM ranges. I have seen all kinds of official “internet” ranges tossed out so...

Higher octane, lower compression, retatard timing, or sensor failure.

It's your sensor and/or wiring harness. The supercharger can cause pinging/knocking but not enough to throw a code. The code means that the sensor is out of range or there's a signal issue to the ECU, a normal functioning knock sensor will just pull timing advance. It's a common problem with these ageing engines.

I’m almost done putting the stock intake back on. Will see if I continue to get codes with it. If I do and actually I hope I do, it means I know what needs to happen. I already ordered the Toyota denso sensors and wire harness. Ouch. But for this I think it’s worth it for sure.

If I don’t get codes with the stock intake then I will have to go down the urd fuel mod path for certain. Regardless will end up doing knockers.

I should have just stuck to stock... now I want to go faster.

confirmed for now

I pulled the charger off... put the stock intake back on and went for a drive, bang same P0330 sensor 2 bank 2

had I just read the doco for the code... I would have maybe not blamed the charger. it for sure pulls timing @ 2000 rpms once the code blows.

thanks for your help. internet points for everybody!

note: sorry coho51 I just could not resit... blame it on years and years of reddit in my blood.
