2000 4 runner

I have a 2000 4 runner.4x4, 3.4 auto. What gear ratio should be in rear diff and what year 3rd members will interchange? Horrible whine in rear end, sounds like carrier bearings or gears! Thanks folks.

Open diff or locker?

Assuming it's open, most were 4.100.....I think if you plug your VIN into following web site, you can pin it down. Don't need to set up an account...but be a little careful....site is apparently out of Russia but I have never had any issues with it.
