2000 4runner fcc id

My new to me 4runner sport did not come with a keyfob. PO lost it. Anyway, I went to my local dealership to get the fcc id, and naturally, the parts guy wouldn't give it to me. He said he would order me one but he couldnt give out the fcc id number. I know the keyless entry controll box is in the rear hatch area of my 4runner. Can I look on it for an FCC id number?

I'd check that ECU and see if it's labeled with it.

I have a 2000 Sr5 Sport package and this was mine 1512Y. I don't have the fancy alarm though, so if you have the alarm, then it maybe different.

It's not that the dealer can't give out the FCC ID it's that they don't want to, since once you have it you don't need them or their $150 pricetag. You can easily go online and find one for $60 or so, or score one off of eBay for $20-$40 with some perseverance.

If you don't have an installed alarm system your FCC ID is almost certainly HYQ1512Y. With an alarm it can be anyone's guess depending upon what the system is (aftermarket?) and how it was installed. Look under the front seats / dash / etc to make sure you don't have one.

Assuming stock keyless it's very easy to program, as mentioned in the link above.

I got mine off ebay for about $40. Works like a charm. Seems to go through batteries pretty quick though. I would like to fix my old one. I did some fixes to it, removing whiskers and what not, but it wasn't a 100% fix.
