2000 4Runner fog lights died

So it no workie no more. I've changed out the lamp - checked the fuse (actually switched it with the AC/power 15A fuse - the AC/power works, but not the fog light).

Any other suggestions... or is it time to bring it in to the mechanic at this point??

fixing foglights

I had the same problem its not your fuses or the lights, its the connection. Due to the placement underneath the car it is highly susceptible to corrosion. So with this take them apart again and clean all the connectors, try vinegar its good at removing oxidation and corrosion. hope this helps.

thanks... i'll give that a shot. how should i go about it? should i disassemble the whole fog compartment completely from the car and then clean it? or should i just take the connectors, clean it out and then give it a shot?

but you said the fog lights doesn't come on right? maybe the bulb is out? i'm sure your talking about the oem toyota fog lights. i believe it's a H1 bulb. check your bulb to see if it's out and also cleaning the connection also helps like dahcstunna said. i'm currently using an aftermarket fog lights so i can't really compare to your oem fogs.

When you take the fog lights out there should be a connector both on the light and the fog unit assembly. Simply take a cap full of vinegar (perhaps a shaving cream can cap) and dunk the assembly connectors in the cap for about two mins then dry them ( if you purchased new bulbs their connectors i assume should be clean so don't worry about them ) then to insure cleanliness take a old toothbrush and scrub up in the assembly connectors. That should clean them right up!!

man... that's a negative ghost rider. took everything apart. dipped whatever connectors i can in vinegar. cleaned all connectors. changed out the bulb. changed the fuse. reassembled everything. and still no workie. although i didn't take a toothbrush to the connectors. maybe i'll do that tomorrow... but any other suggestions??

i'm not sure what kind of corrosion it is. but when there's corrosion to my battery, i used baking soda and cold water and mixed it. if those doesn't work, you could buy those cheap 20 dollar fog lights like mine. unless you want to spend more money on OEM fog lights for your t4r.

yup.... both sides are dead. how do i check to see if it's the relay?
