Hello, im new here to the forum..and i have owned my 4runner for almost 2 years and i love it..but just a month or 2 ago i start getting this winding or some kind of squeal from the engine..the noise is there at idle, but when accelerating..and accelerating while turning the noise amplifies.

I have checked my belts and it doesn't seem loose
I also checked my power steering fluid and its still full. (can i be the power steering pump?)

Any suggestions where else to check? or has anyone had the same problem?

One more problem i noticed was there is a major lag/ a little jerk between the time i press on the gas and the time my car moves. any suggestions on that?

When was timing belt last changed? It's about only thing that could make noise and affect performance.

All belts were changed at 114000 miles..as of right now i have 160000miles

I just changed my spark plugs and it helped the lag a lot. Sorry but i didn't mention my car can't idle for long periods of time with out giving it gas before it dies out.

I appreciate your response wolf

I'd add a bottle of Chevron Techron FI cleaner to next couple of tanks of gas to clean injectors. I'd clean throttle body too. The noise could be cracked or loose vacuum hose or cracked/loose the hose to the FI intake. If plug wires have never been changed replace them with OEM ones.

Ok i'll be doing the Chevron cleaner and give you an update if things get better.
I just hate how its idling..so rough at times, thanks again for your help wolf
