Got the hitch made and welded in

I'm in Colorado. Give Scott a call at Addicted Offroad. I've been helping him out at his shop and used a couple of his ideas from when we made his bumper. At this time, we haven't put together a jig for these bumpers, but I'm quite sure we can build the same center section and pre-bend the outers to be welded on after you fit the center section. If you or someone you know can weld, it would be fairly straight forward to put this together.

Absolutely thats what I would rather do for shippings sake. Doesn't yours stick out just a little farther in the back than Scotts? I saw Scotts when I first joined this forum on another thread with a link to his buildup and it looked like it may not protect the rear lift gate enough for my needs. No doubt departure angle was the reason but I'd like mine to stick out a little.

Yes it does. Scotty went to the frame end. I slid 2x3 inside the frame and moved it out an inch or two.

Bumper looks good. How much of that 2x3 were you able to stuff into the frame. I remember feeling in there and finding some obstructions. I do like how you plated the sides though as I get a little frame flex.

I think it was only three inches or so. I wasn't worried about that since I was plating the frame and bolstering it by a another few inches.

I have a rusted rear bumper and that looks like a great replacement- I am sure I could find a race shop to fab one for me - but w/o knowing approx time it took to produce, I would most likely get taken for a ride $$$ LOL!

I truly lost track of the time to make it. I guess if I got real serious about it I could have one done in two days. While it's not a very difficult project if you're used to doing this kind of thing, to do it right takes time. As far as cost... It truly depends on what the steel costs are in your area. I get my steel at a discount so all in all this bumper didn't cost me much. But I can tell you that retail the main section can cost in the $70 range. Reciever material is some crazy thing like $10/$15 per ft. 1.75" round tube, $3-$4 per ft and I used 20 ft. I used 1/2 plate for the bumper ends and I got that from a friends shop for free so I have no clue what that would cost. You're honestly better off getting someone that is 4x4 savy such as Addicted Offroad (shameless plug) and have them build it for you then have the hot rod shop weld it on. Having someone do fab work that they're not used to doing is going to double your labor costs. Hope this helps. If you need anymore info feel free to shoot me a pm.

Actually, good eye! My neighbor owns a beauty salon and I got one of the heads from her. It's slated to be garage art, but I've been waiting to spend some time with her, a Sharpie, and some thoughtfully placed steel.
