2000 4Runner Rear washer fluid line BROKEN needs repair

Hi,

I've noticed for some time that my rear window's washer fluid doesnt work. The front washers work fine however. Soo I started looking into the rear washer issue yesterday and i found that the rear fluid line is completely ripped. My guess is that it was during the winter, while the line was frozen because its a pretty jagged looking tear.

The rip in the rear window fluid line is located right next to a hole that goes into the passenger quarter panel under the hood where it looks like the front and rear fluid lines split off in order to go to their respective areas. Im guessing that the rear line goes into this hole into the "crawlspace" of the body and leads all the way to the back sprayer. My problem now is how do I rectify the problem?? (assuming i've identified it accurately

Does anyone have a washer fluid diagram? or any ideas that would help. at this point i think it would be best to reconnect the washer fluid line by either replacing the broken line completely (if manageable) or just put on a new line bridging the existing tear. either way, i think its something I could do personally, rather than take it to the stealership. As always, any help is appreciated.

Your simplest, cheapest fix would be a splice connection. You can get them at your local auto parts store.

spliced conneciton? for a tube? whats that entail exactly? i just thought i would get a tube and bridge the gap

It's just a rubber hose , correct? HELP or Dorman products make tee's and connectors for rubber hoses and vacuum lines. Your local parts store can tell you what you need. It sure beats pulling panels off and replacing the entire line.

ok, i think i got ya. im pretty sure im gonna have to pull off something though, just because the break is right before the tube goes into the body, so the other end of the break is somewhere i cant see or easily get to. So in order to 'bridge the gap', im gonna have to either go fishin for it or take of something to get to it.

ok i fixed it today.
I just took off the broken tube from the side of the reservoir and put on 1 foot of black tubing (i couldnt find the exact same kinda stiff clear tubing) and connected it with a 'splicer'. i had to remove the flare screws to get at the tube from the sprayer end from under the quarter panel but it all worked out fine. thanks for the help guys. I hope this helps someone else in the future.

might just be clogged, if the line was broken, then it probably hasn't been used in quite some time .... take a small needle and try to clean out the squirter.

Resurrecting an ancient thread here but hoping to solve an annoying issue...

Just recently my rear washer stopped working. Its pumping fluid and it has plenty of fluid in it, its just not making it to the nozzle, sprayer whatever. In fact it comes dripping out out passenger rear corner of my headliner. So anyone got a clue where that line leads to, how to get to it and what I'd need to get to it to fix it?

Resurrecting an ancient thread here but hoping to solve an annoying issue...

Just recently my rear washer stopped working. Its pumping fluid and it has plenty of fluid in it, its just not making it to the nozzle, sprayer whatever. In fact it comes dripping out out passenger rear corner of my headliner. So anyone got a clue where that line leads to, how to get to it and what I'd need to get to it to fix it?

Starting my pulling the interior around the cargo area, pretty easy, just find the screws and start disassembling.

It sounds like you will probably have to pull the headliner which is a bear, I have never done it with a 4runner, so hopefully someone with experience in that area can chime in.

Yeah Im hoping I could find it without taking the headliner off but I'm not thinking I'll be able to.

So any e with experience pulling the liner post up. And if anyone has any idea what route that line takes to the rear sprayer I'd like to know where to look before I tear into everything.

Did you ever post the pictures somewhere? I'm having similar issue, the washer fluid leaks from somewhere near the passenger side front mud flap. I checked the rear washer outlet at the motor and its working fine, the line has a leak somewhere and the fluid never makes it to the back..
