For some reason today, my windows and power door locks have stopped working. None of the window switches or lock buttons and the window lock out button isn't depressed. I tried checking the fuses but couldn't find any blown. I don't have a clue as to how the circuit breakers are removed or how to reset them. I'm just looking in the main fuse box, so if there's any more of them, I don't know where they are. Any help would be appreciated as my driver window is down and it's going to rain in the next day or two. Thanks!

Also, to add to TheDurk if it turns out that the fuse is not blown it could be a bad drivers side master window/combo switch.

The door locks not working changes that. Unlike the window switches, the door lock switches are NOT interdependent. They actually do trigger the same circuit, but if the left one goes bad, the right one is NOT affected.

Many thanks to everyone that responded to my problem. It was indeed the big 30A fuse in the dash fush box. I had to use a mirror and needle nose pliers to get it out, which was a lot awkward. It had burned a gap right through the center in the little viewing window. Went down to Autozone and picked one up less than $5 and it went back in a lot easier than taking it out. Problem solved!

1998 Power window and locks not working
So I have a perplexing problem similar to this. I have changed out the 30A fuse with a brand new one and the problem is not fixed. It is very odd.
The FOB keychain does not work at all, the front windows will work if the driver's side door is open, but not if closed. The power locks will work if the door is open and the car is turned off. The back windows will not work at all, and when you put the windows up or down in the front with the door open it also makes the same noise it does to power lock the doors but the locks do not move.
The mirror controls work like normal as does every other electric component. I can't find any broken fuses in the kick box or under the hood fuse box. I am not very car savvy and have no idea what else to do. If the doors and windows CAN work, it must be something else. I have NOT done any work on the door and the door to car accordion sleeve looks normal so I don't think any wires could be pinched.
This just suddenly stopped working this morning. Is there another fuse somewhere that might be almost broken (is that possible?). Again because it mostly can work in the right situation I am baffled.

Well I think you are looking in the right place, just not hard enough. the door circuit goes through the accordion boot to a connector in the kick panel area. If I was faced with these symptoms, that's where I would look. There is no magic fuse for windows and locks by themselves. Now I just re-read your post, the FOB should not be related to the door circuit, that is in the Back door ECU and of course the Body ECU. May need more digging here.

I also had the same problem as maui4me, and when I went to replace my 30A fuse it instantly blew I'm not sure what could be causing are there any thoughts?

I just bought my '96 SR5 4R recently and a previous owner completely took out the control panel that contains the rear window switch. I don't know much about car mechanics but am willing to learn. I honestly have no idea where to start honestly. Any ideas would be nice

There are lots of write ups about the center console removal and reassembly. To put the switch back in just remove the trim from around the parking brake, it should just click into that trim piece. Hopefully this helps. More info about your situation might help get you on track
I've bought too many 30A fuses.
Where oh where is the short in that window system? I've replaced that 30A fuse at least five times so far and it you try to roll up or down a window from any door set, you're lucky to get three or four seconds before that expensive fuse blows once again. Dealer wants to replace the master in the driver's door and then expand from there if it doesn't fix the problem and that's rapidly consuming money. Is there a circuit diagram or something out there to troubleshoot this situation? Thanks in advance!

Reviving an old thread here. I have a 2002 Limited and the driver's side window controls were becoming very finnicky before finally giving up the ghost a month ago. The power locks also do not work. No fuses blown (30A power or the 10A ecu one) in the kick panel.
I bought a new power lock/window control button unit from Switch Doctor and replaced it, it still doesn't work, but it DOES blow the 30A fuse whenever I push a button on it. Oddly, it also only has the connector port at the back end of the unit and not the smaller connector port in the center of the unit.
I removed it and put back in the old unit and I just ordered an original toyota one from a junked truck.
Hoping that will work... Curious if anyone has any thoughts.
