2000 console in a 97?

I can not stand the cheap flimsy stupidly placed cup holders in my 1997:goinposta........... My 2000 Limited has some decent ones down by the emergency brake lever...does anybody know if the 2000 console will fit in the 1997 with few modifications?

Definetly worth the trouble as I will never miss the dash mounted cupholder in my '97 and was a factor in just upgrading to a '99 along with quite a few others things that bugged me about my '97.
