2000 Driver's CV Axle Replacement DIY requested

I was recently told that my drivers side cv boot was torn and that the axle wasn't far from going out. After looking over the outrageous estimate to fix it and talking to a few friends of mine, I am under the impression that replacing (the entire axle) it isn't that hard of a job. I was wondering if someone on this site could post a detailed (with picts if possible) DIY of the axle replacement.

I own both of the 2000 4runner repair manuals, but there are some parts of it that look a bit questionable.. and would like to get real world advice/picts instead of drawings in the book.

I would love to do the work myself and get some experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :o)

X2 on this request!

I also have a torn cv boot right now, and plan to fix it myself.

Kill two birds with one (or more) stones. or shall I say:
Fix two runners with one (or more) posts!

eboss, I would suggest searching Yotatech; seems to be a lot more write-ups over there...no offense to my home forum of T4R.org...
