2000 Limited Bumper Swap with older model

Hi Gents,

I'm new to the forum, did a quick search and didn't see an answer. I have a 2000 Limited 4Runner. The front bumper is really sandblasted and the back bumper is dented, and I was wondering if I could replace these parts with an OEM chrome bumper and black plastic valence from an older year. If memory serves me, I think the 98 or 99 Limited had the chrome bumper.

Would there be fitment issues? If so, are there any good aftermarket bumpers that are chrome?

youre better off gettin it repaint. besides, it looks a lot better painted and it has an offset from the non-limited trim package.

'99 is the first year they went with the "fatlip" bumper but chrome ones should be available with any year I thought. Most or all Limited models from '99 on up had painted bumpers. Plus the older bumpers might also require different brackets for them to fit as this is the case for those upgrading to the newer bumpers.

It's not a direct swap but as close as you can get. This was recently confirmed by two guys that did this pretty recently. You would have to swap the whole bumper and not just certain pieces.

BTW, I painted my chrome bumper pieces as I really did not like chrome on my truck. I think it looks much better.

I hated how hard it was to keep the chrome polished on my '97 SR5 and the chrome got pitted easier and on my '99 the paint has held up better in comparison.

where are you located, insurance replaced my front and rear everything about 2 months ago and i weekly polish. Not a scratch on the chrome or black plastic, id be happy to swap and i would just paint yours and install on mine.
