Hi, is there a way to connect a portable DVD player so it has power all the time? Not affected by ignition being turned on/off? It's my daughters DVD player in the back seat and I am hoping to have the constant power. The way it is now (in aux plug) it restarts each time the key goes off. Thank you for any help, I appreciate it. I have a 2000 Limited

I installed an always on cigarette lighter socket in the back to power air compressors, tools and other things but you could do it for a DVD player too. I got a fuse holder, crimped a large lug on one end to connect to the battery and spliced a wire on the other end that I ran back along the firewall to the passenger side and connected it to a terminal strip to distribute the power. From there I ran a wire through the rubber firewall plug in behind the glove box and down underneath the plastic trim below the doors back to the rear and installed a cigarette lighter jack. You could have the wire come out right behind the front door and over to the rear of the center console and put a cigarette lighter jack there for the DVD. You'd have to remember to turn it off manually so it doesn't run down the battery though.
