2000 T4R rack and pinion Steering replacement

ok so I took my truck in because the steering wheel had a shimmy at various speeds. Mechanic said the rack need replacing because there was a lot of wiggle in the rack. He charged me $450 total to do this. When I left shop, the steering felt tighter but the shimmy was still there. 2 days & 75 miles later, I turned a corner and now major noise is coming from the power steering pump. Could he have put in too much fluid, installed something wrong, is this a common thing for that to go out after getting a new rack.....please help.

You probably have too little fluid in the pump. Check the fluid and add some more if needed. If that is not the problem, take it back to the shop to get diagnosed.
