2000 toyota 4runner ignition problems

I have a 2000 4runner 4wd. I've been having problems with the ignition not turning over. I have to put the key in and remove over and over (usauly 10 tries) before it will turn over. Wondering if I have to replace the cylinder? Any information would be greatly appreciated..

I just went and got a new key made and solved the problem :biggrin2:

same thing happened to me
my door would only half unlock. 8 years of use will definitely wear down the key

Yeah I have a key that will not lock or unlock the glove box because it's too worn.

Same thing happened to me last motnth with my 16 year old Honda. I had a hard time getting in the car and then finally could not start the car. I used my spare key and it worked fine. I guess I should make a few copies of the spare......
