2000 Tranny Bump or Jump

Hello all,

Just bought a very nice 2000 SR5 4WD 4Runner and after driving it for about two hundred miles have noticed a very distinct bump or jump in the motor or tranny when braking or taking off at a stop light. Best way to describe is it feels like the motor or transmission is moving from front to back. I had my mech. check it out and he could not find any loose mounts but admits there is a problem. It can also be felt in the gear shift, both shifters are moving back and forth when it takes place. I've searched the forum with no luck and hoping someone has some insight. I have 2 more days to decide take the truck back for a refund, which I do not want to do............... It is a one owner and was fairly hard to find around here, in this condition. Thanks in advance.

This is a long shot but grease the rear drive shaft. There's a slip joint in it and it may be dry and binding up.

Good luck.

I did a search and found out that I needed to grease a few spots underneath and that did the trick. I bought this truck from some mechanics and they couldn't find out what the problem was. Thanks to the internet and public forums.
