2001 4Runner Battery Hold Down Bolt Size

Does anyone know what the bolt size is for the front hole of the battery hold down?

I believe it's a 12mm x 1.25, but not sure on the length. The OEM bolt is 90119-08974, and should only cost you around $1 or so.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! I read on another forum M6 x 1.0, but that's too small.

I replaced my alternator on my own for the first time and putting the battery hold down back was the last thing. Dropped the bolt somewhere and I can't find it. After all that...

I'll give this a shot for sure.

Might be a 8 x 1.25. If there's a Lowes or Ace Hardware they should stock metric bolts in that diameter/thread pattern.

I always support ACE; their Metric section has kept me afloat in some seriously small towns. They'll have the flange nuts, bolts, and odd bits we tend to need to mimic OEM.

Tried the 8mm x 1.00 and it only thread half way down.

10mm is much too wide. Probably going to search for the OEM replacement: 90119-08974.

Quick side note 2 years later for anyone reading:

If you're like me and common sense isn't always your forte... make sure you get the nut for underneath this bolt too. I failed to do that, it slowly backed out, and my j-bolt is now lying somewhere out in the wild :pout:
