2001 4Runner Questions

I just bought a 2001 4Runner with 69k on it a few weeks ago. I have a couple of questions about how stuff works before my 30 day warranty expires.

1. Rear Heater- how does it work? DO I have to have a certain setting on my main a/c control to have it turn on?

2. If you turn on your wipers and happen to turn them back off while they are in mid wipe do they quit right then as opposed to stopping once they get back into the resting position? I've never had that happen before on any cars.

Other than that, I couldn't be happier with my T4R.

Any other tips/ tricks? Its a 2001 Limited with all the options except 4wd.

1. On my rear heater, there is a 3-way rocker switch that goes:

Low-Off-High

And a slider that goes from normal air to hot air. This should all work independant of your front controls. On really cold mornings in the winter, I turn the rear heater on for a while to warm the cabin.

2. As for the wipers, I'm pretty sure you better get that looked at. I've been able to stop mine up an inch or two from the stop position, but never in mid cycle.

Congrats on the new Runner!

Congrats on the new Runner!

I have those same switches, but nothing comes out when they are turned on.

Any ideas what might cause the wiper issue....some relay maybe?

Thanks!

If you haven't done so, I would seriously consider getting a CarFax. Sounds like you're having a few too many electrical problems too me. Maybe flood damage? Wouldn't hurt to know that the odometer is correct as well.

I ordered the report and carfax said everything was fine, the odomoter checked out as well. I've checked everything on it...no signs of rust or water damage. All other electrical components work well- windows, cd, radio, air, security, etc.

So, I think these are isolated incidents and not really related. The Wipers aren't a big deal, but I will have them checked.
