2001 4runner SR5 tires

i’m looking to replace my tires / no lift or anything.
i currently have a set of Michelin 265/75/16.
I’ve found a pair of used Hankook dynapro all terrain for $600.
Is this a good brand? I don’t do any off road or anything crazy - just city drive, kids back and forth from school.

UPDATE - I’ve found a set of used Michelin Trail A/P 265/75/16. Anyone using this model? Would it work for our 4Runner? Seller says that he had them on a Chevy Silverado.

Checking out the new prices on tire rack, it looks like there are multiple options for the Hankook Dynapro All Terrains. Depending on which option you are looking at, the price for a new set ranges from about $580 to $700. So unless those used tires are almost brand new, I'm going to say they are overpriced, and even for new tires could be overpriced.

Edit: Just saw you are in BC. I'm not sure what the exchange rate is and how it impacts tire pricing. It may not be such a bad deal if new tire prices around you are significantly higher than US prices. I'd suggest checking the new price for yourself and seeing how the price compares.

If budget is a priority learn what to look for when buying used tires. Date codes are important, you need to know how to read them.

I wouldn't personally recommend Hankook tires to most people. While there's nothing wrong with them when it comes to traction or wear they use some of the thinnest casings I've seen, very susceptible to punctures and will blow out if you get the sidewall close to anything.

$600 is also quite a bit to pay for a used set of tires in stock size. That's usually what I'd pay for a set of 35's with good tread.

I'd recommend looking into some of the budget brands that've gained some reputablility in our marketplace. Mastercraft, Ironman, milestar and kuhmo are all brands I'd trust and you should be able to get a brand new set right around $600 fairly easily.

$600 used Hankooks aren't affordable.

Look into the General Grabber HTS. This is also the time of year where I notice good tire deals.

Go to amazon.com and search for your style tire and size. The prices are better than most with free delivery.

Check out some Falken Wildpeaks. I got some early this year, for $700 and some change, installed, and have been very satisfied with them. As, or more satisfied than with the Michelins that I replaced.

If you only do paved driving you have plent of options.. you are in Canada so your prices might be different. look at Craigslist, Facebook market place for takeoff of of new Tacoma or 4runner for 600 you can score a good deal on wheel and tire combo. The 4th Gen and 5th Gen 4runner are 17 inch rim but they fit the 3rd Gen also.

now, i’ve found an used set of Michelin Trail A/P.
Not sure what ‘trail a/p’ stands for. I currently have LT - light truck. Does anyone know if those Trail A/P would work for my 4Runner?
