Yep. That's the one. It takes about 20 minutes and works great. ABS still works.

Not only does ABS still work, but the TRAC kicks in again when you're in 4lo. Pretty helpful off road. When you're in 2/4hi it just stays off and you have open diffs.

so wait, it cant be that easy, i've read that link 3 times and still am confused. All you have to do is cut that red wire with the black stripe, extend it with a couple wires into a switch?

can you further elaborate on this? ive been wanting to do this mod for a while now. i was under the impression that you have to turn off the engine and restart it for it to come back on?

Sure. The whole purpose of the Andymod is to disable the traction control that kicks in sometimes unnecessarily on the road. The mod disables VSC completely and disables TRAC in 2wd and 4wd hi.
Now, after the Andymod is done, when you shift in to 4lo, the TRAC re-enables, which is a good thing in case you get stuck awkwardly off road and need the power shifted to a different wheel.
What you are talking about when you say about turning the engine off/on is if you want to turn all the systems back on/ recalibrate the yaw sensor. Doing that resets the vehicle to the way it was with TRAC and VSC enabled in 2/4 hi, and 4lo.
The Andymod is completely reversible, although once you complete it, I doubt you'll ever want to go back.
But yeah, basically the best thing anyone with an '01 or '02 4Runner can do is the Andymod. So do it.

The above is true. One of the best and first mods you should do to a 01-02. Mine is completely disabled, and I never want it back.

I did the Andymod last year and bought the switch for it but never installed it. The reason being is that I don't ever want to go back to factory settings. Once it's done, the car works like a dream. Like I said before, if you get stuck, shift into 4Lo and the TRAC kicks back on and you should be able to free yourself. Otherwise I just leave it as an open diff all the time and never look back. It's not that hard to re-enable anyway.

good to know. My only concern with that would be on the highway. I mean I drive safely when the roads are bad but i'm also not the "overly cautious" guy that thinks he has to go the speed of a snail when its slick.
I just ordered a switch on eBay, but I missed the second page on that link where it said the push button OEM one wont work for this :ybrick:

I get what you're saying about driving safely... and that's why I disabled it. I live in PA and as you can tell by my avatar we get a good bit of snow here. The traction control used to kick in when I was pulling out into intersections and not let me move. It almost caused me to be in a few accidents. I'm much happier not having anything but ABS help me out when it's slick. Just my 2 cents.
If you still really want the switch, I have one for it that I could sell you because I never decided to install it.

oh yeah i hear you when taking off at a stop light or intersection. I hate it when i'm not going anywhere. I just get worried when im going faster. But yeah i may be interested, is it an OEM switch or one of those OTHTTW switces?

OEM switch straight from Toyota. It came of of either an Avalon or Camry, I can't remember.

Trac is what keeps the wheels spinning in the lack of traction correct? Is it the same as VSC? If so, mine came standard with that. I've always been confused when reading threads about disabling traction control, because I already have that switch installed from factory.

so with the Andymod 2.0... youre saying that I can switch off the VSC in 2wd. I get that... (and am SOOO looking forward to it. If there is one thing Ive always HATED about this truck!)
I guess I dont understand the part about shutting the truck off to reset everything.
If the switch interrupts the circuit, how does it reset without the switch being thrown back? Or do you? I just want to understand a little more, and If you guys could recommend a nice looking switch for this mod Id appreciate it!
