2001 aftermarket HU install request

Hey guys, I used the search and went about 12 pages deep and couldn't find anything. Ive got a Pioneer cd player that I want to install in 2001 SR5. Searched google for research and have found so far best bet to be to take out the factory amp right behind the stock stereo.

But what I'm looking for is a link to the install kinda like this *insert link to thread that I can't find now /facepalm* Anyway, the thread was for a 96 install. I have no problem taking the stock radio out, I guess the only thing I need help with is working with the stock amp wiring. And getting all the wires for the pioneer harness and the stock amp harness to link right.

Thanks for any input =P

im not sure about the factory amp but pioneer wire harness is pretty easy.

yellow memory
orange dimmer
blue remote/antenna

purple/green/gray and that other color are speakers.

the new HU should have RCA outs, does the factory amp have RCA in?

Typically, you would remove the stock amp and purchase a wireharness to connect your aftermarket headunit to your stock radio wires.

Here's a link to one on amazon...

awesome, you sir are a google god. Unless you already had this site bookmarked =P this will greatly help tonight as soon as my girl gets home (she has the wiring harness in her car). I dont believe that old stock amp has RCA jacks though. Will find out soon. Thanks again.

Correct, the stock amp does not have any rca connectors.

Enjoy your new radio!

be advised

That PDF I linked isnt fully correct on the Toyota side of the wiring diagram. Had to re-wire the everything a second time after i followed it =( But the New harness wiring color codes are correct. So i had to find the correct Toyota wiring codes :
MEM- BLUE/YELLOW +

PWR- GRAY +

GROUND- BROWN-

ILL- GREEN +

DIM- BLUE/YELLOW

TRG- BLACK/RED +

RF- LT GREEN +

RF- BLUE -

LF- PINK +

LF- VIOLET -

RR- RED +

RR- WHITE -

LR- BLACK +

LR- YELLOW -

So far everything is perfect. Side note: the two brackets that mount the factory head unit can be taken off and put on any aftermarket head unti after you take off the metal case surrounding it, it bolts right up allowing you to mount your HU hella tight and snug.

Sony Xplod + Rockfod Fosgate 400 watt mono bridged amp, ported Memphis Audio 10 and stock speakers that came with 4runner =P

yes it did =P after i used the correct diagrams, and after i figured out how to disable and take out the alarm system the disabled the truck from turning on LOL boy i was scared when that happened.
