2001 Brake pads questions

Hello all,

i admit that i'm a amature when it comes to car and this is my first time trying to learn how to replace brake pad. I ordered one front set online from toyota dealer in Tacoma WA and i recieved 2 differnt pairs. Wondering if they sent me the right thing or not. Should both set be the same. I would assume so...

Another queston, does the the metal clips look right? I opened my wheel and check, both of the sets on the original 4Runner are the same. and the metal clips seem to be on tope of the pad near by the pins

Don't goof around with your brakes if you don't know what you are doing!!!! Take it somewhere!!!

If you want to work on your own car, great, change a lightbulb, maybe change the oil, but don't tackle safety related repairs if you are not 100% sure about what you are doing.

Brake pads are extremely simple to change and by replacing them yourself, you'll be able to install a much better pad for the money than if you had someone install them for you.

Since you have both sets, the best thing to do is to pull the current pads and compare them with your new sets.

Also, dont forget to have your rotors turned.

just wait until he tries to get out those caliper pins if theyre rusted, i had to buy all new calipers they were literally welded in there. this example is yet another reason i like to buy stuff from advance or somewhere close by so i can return same day and get it right. good luck man

Agreed! I will usually buy parts from our local store. I am quite partial to the Performance Friction pads that Auto Zone sells (the rest of their products are crap, but these pads are excellent).

As for rusted caliper bolts....I've never experienced one before....but then again, I dont live where the roads are salted during the winter. Not sure where the OP lives...

them tabs are squeal when the pads get down to a certain point i just changed my pads rotors and rear shoes its very simple the front pads you dont even need to unbolt the caliper they slide out from the top

also the pads make sure u put them in the right way the the pad with 2 metal tab goes on one side and the one with 1 metal tab on the other
