2001 speedometer not working.

Ok guys. Got a question. So I put new bearings on the rear axles. I already have deleted the abs so I didn't put the abs rings on the axles. I don't have speed reading on the speedo which isn't a biggy. I didn't realize they used the abs rings to get the speed.

My question is will my 4runner not having a speed reading damage the tranny in any way?

I drove it down my road nothing fast. I'm just curious if the speed communicates with the transmission to determine gear and whatever else where as not having a speed communicates could damage something

No expert here yet I think the trans achieves its decisions to shift up/down based on fluid pressure and its solenoids. It does sends signals to the ECU when about to shift to retard the timing for a moment to allow for smoother shifts. I think it s/b ok.

Anyone else have thoughts? :cowboy:

No, it will not damage the transmission. The wheel speed sensors are used for ABS and the speedo. The transmission uses input from the TPS, output speed sensor, calculated load and engine RPM to control shifting. As long as your transmission is up-shifting and down-shifting fine you should be okay.
