Of course you can. There isn't much that isn't possible. Just a matter of if it's worth the money or effort.

This is my first auto. I'd love to swap it for a manual, but to me it's not worth the money.

Better be good at electrical wiring diagrams. or get a donor harness. But yes it can be done. Not sure about drive shaft length though. And the holes in the firewall, and tunnel. If you can find a totaled one for parts that would be the route. Sorry to this post sounds so discouraging.

why? its cool and all, but i dont know if its worth all the pain, money, and effort. i have a 5speed and love it, but really wish it was an auto sometimes.

it's a big job, someone is in the process of doing it with a 2000 4cyl

I have both and am having a hard time deciding what is "better". They are both nice for different reasons, I don't think I could handle a 4 cyl with an auto, but that's not relevant.
