2001 SR5 4WD idle speed and defroster ?

What is the correct idle speed for 4Runner ? My runs at about 600 RPM.

Another question. The right side of the rear cargo area window has what appears to be an electric defroster on the glass. The "wire" runs down behind the plastic in the right side rear storage area. I assume this is a defroster because the other side doesn't have it. I don't find anything in the owner's manual about it.

600-700 is within spec for the idle speed. Yep that's a window defroster it makes sense when you look at it from the drivers seat why there is not one on the rear drivers side.

x2, its the AM antenna, not a defroster.

I haven't driven my 4Runner in almost a month sooooo.. I forget what it idles at. I just fixed the idle air control motor too.

Does anyone know how to increase the idle speed on a 2001 ? The idle seems fine except with the AC on. It does not die, but it turns only 400 RPM when in drive. can anyone help?

Here I was thinking that Toyota had it all figured out...I just assumed since I had an antenna mast that it was both AM/FM. Just re-checked my idle it is 700-750 in park and it is 600-650 (in between) in Drive.
 
Just a quick note. I cleaned the throttle body today. Low idle problem solved. I started the truck and it idled at about 950 for a few minutes. The idle is now 750 in Park and around 650 in drive. Much better. FYI.

As far as I have ever noticed, mine has always idled at 1400 the first start of the day whether it's summer or winter. It will go down a lot quicker in the summer though.

I think I remember reading about someone's idling about 2 grand when they first started it up. (was like negative temps).....IDK

I do remember reading that the truck will try and reach closed loop operation under a set number of minutes(seconds) and would set a check engine if it took too long to reach closed loop.....so it would make sense if it was freeze your balls off cold in the morning, setting all night.

how did you clean the throttle body?

my 4 runner runs great,gets good gas mileage 17/20, and has zero issues at all until it is warmed up then it idles steady @ 600 in D at a stop,when fully warmed up- that low it has a mild vibration,just enough to make me want to solve the issue. this is only in D at a stop,if I keep a foot on the brake pedal,and touch the gas a wee wee bit,enough to raise the idle to 6.5'sh it smooths right out...

timing belt,plugs,wires,maf sensor,fuel filter,a/f sensor, all done w/in 10k miles and using sunoco 93 - 141k now
