2002 4Runner & Jet V-Force Power Control Module

New to the forum all-

Just picked up a very clean '02 out of Colorado. I've always loved these trucks but it could use a bit more power. I searched the FAQ (or think I did) as well as the site itself but nothing jumped out at me. Has anyone invested in the Jet V-Force or other ECU type mod?

The truck is stock and I largely intend to keep it that way.

Welcome. Where are you located?
I wish there was some kind of add on chip that would truly add some power.

If there is one that is going to work, it would be the Jet.
It's kinda vague if it is suppose to boost performance or just monitor it. It cost less than the Import ECU Upgrade Kit. IF either do help I wonder if they are both suppose to give the same gains.

There are other junk "chips" that trick the engine to run rich and boost performance a little. I wouldn't run these.

You will hear people say that they have heard that all chips don't work on our 4runners. I would love to hear a true report from someone that has actually tried one.

I'm located outside of Wash DC in Annapolis, MD.

Sounds like an ECU mod may not be warranted.

The link to gadgetonline.com and ECU upgrade section is interesting. It's certainly been my experience that oftentimes the ECU mods don't do much. In that article, the author mentions some ECU board mod from EL Prototypes. Best I can tell that company doesn't exist any longer and if you go to the site they hit you up with a bunch of java script and banner crap.

If anyone has any good or bad experiences with an ECU mod I'd love to hear about them.
