2002 Badlands Forsale

So, I found this on CL the other day: 2002 Toyota 4Runner and aside from the price, I'm having a hard time saying no to it. I haven't gone to see it, but from the pics and description is seems like a prime example of what I want in a 4runner. I currently have a limited with the e-locker and obviously my lift and wheels would swap over. Money is really tight tho, so if someone would talk me out of it, that would be very helpful lol.

WTF is a Badlands edition? That's just an 02 Sport, with early 3rd gen 4cyl wheels. Not sure what prices are in your parts, but that's an $8k truck here in Indiana.

Thank you, that did the job. And yes, there is a "package" called Badlands. Generally there is a sticker depicting it as such. Its a Sport with Limited flares and a hood scoop.

That's what the Sport edition is. Hood scoop, wide flares (not Limited flares) and silver interior trim. Sounds like they just call the Sport "Badlands"...they're the exact same thing. Except the Badlands apparently has terrible wheels and no rear spoiler. I'd put this below the SR5...nowhere near $14k!

That 126,000 is Kms. Under 80,000 miles. You'd have to be pretty lucky to find a lower mile unit....

Remember that the CAD is not doing too well right now and that's actually around $10,100 USD. Also there is a CEL.

The key is probably in the accessory position without the engine running to get the odometer reading, so the CEL is on. I also dig the purple window tint. It accents the maroon exterior nicely, lol.

well it must have been in an accident at some point, it doesnt have the color matched grille. interestingly it has power folding mirrors and no running boards. its set up pretty well from the factory for offroad.

Door panels and seat don't seem to match the rest of the interior either. Unless this was a thing in '02 or they're just using a bad camera? Seems weird to me. looks like the interior goes from Oak to grey at the center console. A lot of sketchy things going on with this one, just judging by the photos.

dat mileage though. Gnnnf.


Oh, and "Badlands" edition seems like Dealer-rice to me. Not a factory option. As an example, Chevy did the same thing with base models Cavalier for a long time. Calling them "Z22" which was juts a dealer offered package because they would slap on some fake trim and some sport wheels or something stupid.

It's not like a dealer is going to start swapping out alloys with steelies and Sport seats with Base seats. Kind of like how today you can buy a 4Runner Trail or it's more upscale variant, the Trail Premium(although the gap may not be so big between them today).

I bought my rig from Vancouver BC, and they salt up there, and it's got some moderate frame/skid/etc rust. Not "East Coast Bad," but still not awesome. A truck of that price should be clean.

I think the seats/wheels might have been swapped out from the PO rather than the original Toyota Dealer.

The Badlands are probably a reference to Drumheller (Dinosaur Valley) meant to appeal to potential buyer's who are looking for something that can handle the famous rugged Canadian terrain.

This isn't an owner-done thing. I've seen quite a few of these oddball 4Runners. There's one guy with a funky username that has one. Maybe he would know better.
