It is time for me to replace the original shocks on my 02 SR5 4wd with 185,000 miles. I have been looking at lift options and it seems the 01-02 are the lowest from the factory, why is that? How much lower are they? I if get a 2" lift am I really going to get more since I have an '02?

Easiest thing to do would be measure your hub to fender height, either front or rear and base the amount of lift you can expect off of a stock height of 20". "99 talls" put you around 21-21.5" depending on if they're new or not. But to answer your question, yes you'll probably see a slight additional lift due to the year and age of your stock springs. I'd guess you're probably at or around 19.5" on all 4 corners.

Seems like I read on here somewhere that factory ride heights were going up progressively starting from 1996 and peaked at 1999 — then promptly began to drop again because of the big Firestone tire blowout/rollover debacle of that time. Auto makers got nervous about anything that might contribute to an increased rollover likelihood.
