2003-2004 4Runner V8 JP Headers

This is a preliminary group buy for JP Performance headers for the 2003-2004 V8 4Runners. I am getting a preliminary quote for their design by JP Performance this week and will have further technical and costs information this week.

With the group buys from JP on other auto forums we have been able to bring the price of the headers down about 25%, and for the local guys paying cash no tax.

Group Buy Example

For instance I purchased a customized header and midpipe, originally $350 and $550 respectively for $265 and $440 after we were able to get about 10 people committed and pad in the buy. JP even honored additional buys during the production of the headers and midpipes.

I am personally having the headers made for my wife's 2003 V8 4Runner. I figure if anyone else wants in it can only benefit us all.

I had JP look at the 4Runner on Tuesday. Looking at our configuration on the V8 the two CAT coming from each header would need to be eliminated for reasonable gains. Any code that would be thrown could be eliminated with a signal conditioner from Split Second, in essence tricking the O2 sensors.

JP can built the headers and leave the CAT's in place but the gains would be minimal, maybe 10-12 whp in their estimate. I even asked them if it would help to built the headers and push the CATs back, but it would require to much modification. My most important goal is a direct bolt on.

JP says the best gains would be realized with a long header vs short headers like those built by JBA or TRD for the Tundra's (for those who own a Tundra, JP already makes headers for the V8, and Jose at JP has them on his Truck and it roars). Anyway the gains in this type of configuration yielded on the dyno about 28 whp for a Nissan Titan that JP is doing header work on.

So here are the the important numbers. Either me or someone in the area would need to volunteer to give up their truck for 2-2week periods. The first 2 weeks would be for R&D, they would them give the truck back while the headers go into production. The final 2 weeks would be for measurement, final fitment, and testing including dyno and tuning as needed.

The headers can be titanium or polished.

I told JP that this would probably be a much more difficult group buy to put together than the Matrix/Corolla GB which sold over 100 headers, mostly due to price and demographics of the buyers. Please feel free to PM me for interest in this.
