2003 4 runner squeak at all times when running

i have a 2003 4runner that i love with 150k on it. when starting and driving the 4runner there is a belt squeak on start up and when idling and driving? really want this fix before the wife kills me. let me know thanks alot in advanced.

If it's a squeak, then you probably have a worn belt. A short-term solution is to spray some belt dressing into a pulley groove one at a time until you find the one that quiets the squeak. This could stop it for anywhere from 1 day to a month or so.

If it's more of a squeal, then you have a belt slipping. It should be easy enough to tighten once you determine that's what it is.

From very recent experience...belt tensioner pulley bearing seized. The pulley continued to spin but with the frozen bearing it was just metal on metal. Had to replace the whole assy. $90 for the part and a major PITA to install.

Remove the serpentine belt and start the engine for a few seconds. If the squeak goes away it is one of the accesories or idler pulleys. Replace as needed.

I'd replace the serpentine belt first. IT's cheap and if it fixes it, great. If that doesn't fix it, try a tensioner or pulley
