2003 4runner Lift Questions

Does any have/seen a black '03/'04 4runner with a lift?
What do you guys think about lifting the 4runner?

I have not seen any new gens with a lift on them yet around Orlando, but I'm sure there could be. I've looked into Daystar and Revtek, but need to hear from owners of the new gens w/ lifts to see if there is any downstream impacts before I buy mine. For example, alignment probs, CV angle issues, driveline vibrations, handling issues, sreering lag, etc...

Let me know if you hear of anyone with a lift so we can see what issues they could be facing, if any.

Also, I'm looking into a new skid plate for mine. The 2 peice front with a scoop covered by wire mesh and the plastic cover for the drain plug removal seems like it will pick up all sorts of mud and other stuff in time. I'll let you know what I find out or fab up.

If you have X-REAS your pretty much SOL if you want to try and add lift.

This is fourunnabilly's truck from another forum who added 3" Revtek and Pro Comp Mud Terrain 33x12.5R17's.

None of these are black but you will get the picture of what a lifted 4th gen looks like. The only problem is if you have the Xreas suspension on your truck. As far as know they have not created a lift for the 4th gen where you can keep it active, so you either have to disable it, which is a huge wasted of money, buy a 4Runner without it, or just wait a little bit longer for them to get a lift out there where you can keep the Xreas. That is what I am hoping for.

Lifting up to 2.5" is perfectly safe and you should not encounter any CV issues or any other issues related to the lift itself.

If you go beyond the 2.5" mark in the front you will encounter severe CV angles and will damage lots of stuff on the long run (best not to go beyond this) - recommended even though people might say otherwise.

For now you're best bet are the spacer technology that daystar and revtek offers.

If you want a more stable setup, you're gonna have to wait for Downey and SAW as they are pretty much finishing up their coilover designs.

The rears are free to go as high as you wish (obviously too high in the rear will make the 4runner look funny though).

Any mods to the new 4th gens will take time. Don't expect alot of aftermarket stuff out on the shelves for atlesat another 6-9 months.

As for skid plates... you're best bet is to make ur own or wait for a company to mass produce (but this takes time)....

Momo is your truck 4wd? I thought I read somewhere that you said you have 2wd. I'm just curious because you said you wanted to get a lift a few posts up.

Yep, it is 2Wd. I know it seems like a waste, but I have it just for street and the occassional dirt road. If a lift came about for the Xreas I would put it on, just so I could put a little bigger tire on it.
