I got ready for changing front brakes (calipers, pads & rotors) on '03 T4R Limited & to my surprise the Auto Part Center gave me the wrong size of calipers & rotors. Rotors are 13.3' dia. & I got matching calipers with that. I checked the receipt, and it looks like that's what I should have gotten, since they were keying off the 17" wheels that come on limited. The old rotors on my limited are 12.6" dia. I have checked whatever I could find on the web on '03 T4R and it looks like this is correct - limited should have 12.6" rotors, only Sport has 13.3" if it gets 17" wheels.
BTW, these new parts would have fit fine if it wasn't for the rotor shields which are too small.
Here come my questions:
1)did anyone take these shields off?
Any help would be appreciated. Looks like I have to pull the wheel hub off, looks like a 17mm bolt.
2) Does anyone know if I remove the 4 bolts, will the hub come off so I can get at the shield? I'm planning on buying the larger shields and putting these bigger brakes in.
3) Anything I should be aware of with respect to upgrading these brakes? I put the caliper on, the old rotor, the wheel back on, and it fit fine. Would something else not fit, the new shield perhaps?
