2003 4Runner Weird Sensation After Braking

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this, as I am failry new to 4WD vehicles. My 2003 SR5 V8 with AWD frequently does something after braking I've never experienced before with other vehicles. After coming to a complete stop, and then releasing the brake pedal, there will be a sensation as though someone tapped me in the rear bumper. It seems to be more noticeable in warmer weather and the severity of the "tap" seems to be consistent with the speed I am braking from. In other words, it will be worse coming down from highway speeds than coasting to a stop on a local road. I took it to my dealer and they checked the brakes over because they thought possibly not all 4 brakes were releasing at the same time, and found nothing wrong there. They dismissed it as pent up energy in the rear suspension being released. I'm not so sure. Could it be something in the transfer case related to the AWD system? Thanks.

FirstToyz, you're a genius. I just invested $10 in having the under chassis lubed. All 4 universals and both slip yokes were bone dry! No more thunk/tap. Thanks!
