2003 brake bleeding questions...

Hi all,
I have a 2003 2WD V8. I bought some Speedbleeders (Speed Bleeder Bleeding Brakes Bleeding Motorcycle Brakes Automotive Bleeder Screw Brake Bleeder) to prepare to do brake fluid flush. I have the Toyota Shop manual and reading through it, I was a little confused as the manual referred to Toyota's hand-held tester.

I found a paragraph that said:

"Bleed brake line:
a) turn ignition key to ON
b) press the brake pedal several times and then loosen the bleeder plug with the pedal held down
c) when the fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder plug, then release the brake pedal
d) repeat (a) and (b) until all the air has been bled out

e) repeat for each wheel
"

Are these the proper procedures? Do I have to keep turn ON and OFF the ignition key? What's the purpose of turning it ON?

I have done many brake bleeding jobs in the past on other cars/motorcycles and basically:

- without SPeedbleeder:
1) hold down pedal
2) loosen bleeder plug
3) when the fluid comes out, close the bleeder
4) repeat 1-3 above until fluid comes out clean

- with Speedbleeder:
1) loosen bleeder plug. Connect hose to a container
2) push pedal, then release
3) refill brake fluid
4) repeat 1-3 until fluid comes out clean, then close bleeder

The difference is the Toyota Shop manual is that I have to turn on the ignition key and leave it on?

The manual also did not say which wheel should be done first? IT did say with the Toyota tester, then it's 1) right front 2) left front 3) left rear 4) right rear

PS: Will that be any different if I use the Mityvac brake fluid vacuum pump?

When I bled mine I left my ignition on, and used two people, one to depress the brakes the other open and closed the bleeder. But that seems to be the proper procedure.

Thanks for the reply. So it's like traditional brake bleeding, except to turn the ignition key ON? I searched around here and it seems some said after turning on the ignition key and step on the brake pedal, the fluid keeps coming out without pumping the pedal? That was why I was confused

If I just use a Mityvac pump to suck out the fluid at the bleeder, I shouldn't have to turn on the ignition key, yes? I assumed turning on the key is only to make the pumping of the pedal easier?
