2003 Gray Clad Molding Scratch Repair?

Today I went on a rough 4x4 trip with two Jeeps. When I washed off all the mud I discovered the sides all scratched up. I know I can fix the scratches on the paint (light brush scratches) but I don't know how to fix the ones on the grey clad molding. I searched the forum to find years-old posts with no solutions. If anyone figured out how to fix or hide the scratches please post. Thanks!

Oh and the two jeeps were a Cherokee and a Wrangler. They doubted me but were impressed when I kept up without problems. They also drooled over he V8 LOL :guitar2:

The Uni-Bpdy Cherokee was doubting your 4Runner? You shoulda been like, "Soo any hairline cracks in that UNIBODY frame?

Ha yup and my stock rig had better clearance than the stock '01 wrangler

It depends on how bad they are, but a heat gun should do the trick. You can get them for $20 in the paint section at
I have used it on my Jeep plastic quite a bit. You will probably want to go ahead and use it on all of your cladding after fixing the scratches, because the heat gun will make the plastic look brand new (in color), and unless you do the whole car you will notice where the repair is.
It is very easy, just go over the cladding holding the heat gun a few inches away and you will see the plastic darken up a little.

When I bought my Jeep the fenders were white and chalky, the heat gun brought them back to looking brand new! Of course I have scratched them up off road, and as long as it isn't too deep, the heat gun will remove or hide the scratch.

sounds a little risky but a pretty good idea. if they get any worse i might try it but for now i can deal with it
