2003 limited. 131,000

Hello All! I'm happy to announce I just became part of the 4runner family.

I purchased a 2003 limited with 131,000 in great condition. v8 and all the upgrades. However I noticed I'm getting a little oil drop under the middle of the vehicle and I'm wondering if you can tell what this black box is and if it's known to leak like this?

so it looks like the shift act and it seems to be a ***** just to replace a simple seal?

Yep! It sucks, but seems to be common. Try the White Shepherd, still working for me.

Mine started leaking about a year ago. It only drips a few drop now and then. I made a catch tray attached to the transfer case guard out of aluminum and put with an old sock filled with oil dry in it to catch the oil. I check the transfer case oil level more often and it really does not leak much at all at least on mine. At least it is not making a mess on the garage floor now. If it was a newer vehicle I would get it fixed but I can deal with this small leak.
