2003 Limited V8 Calipers

Our calipers (front brakes) seized at 100,060 miles (November 8, 2008).
We had them replaced at the dealer and now they went again. We found out, yesteday, that they used aftermarket calipers for replacement. Doesn't Toyota use Toyota parts?

My question is, does anyone know what Toyota dealers charge for Toyota caliper parts (aftermarket also)?

When they where replaced in November 2008, they charged our $275, for each side.

Any help would be appreciated.

original calipers for the 4runner are about 425 each side. remanufactered calipers from toyota are about 250each and aftermarket is about 175each.
if a toyota dealer installed aftermarket calipers on your truck by law they should inform you (at least in the tri-state area).
my guess is they installed toyota reman calipers cause 275 each sounds about right
reman suck i rather get aftermarket and save money.

Welcome to the forum.

You would hope Toyota used Toyota parts or at the very least there was some disclosure prior to the repair. I would take it up with the dealer and learn what the policy is and what you need to ask for next time.

As far as calipers are concerned I might even rejoice. Napa and others have an 'improved' design that supposed to relieve the siezing piston issue. The current gen Toyota calipers are supposed to be better too.


I would have an issue with non-factory parts without your knowledge but in this case you might be better off...
