2003 Rear Bumper Cover Removal

I need to remove the stock 5K lb WC hitch and install my full frame mount WD hitch. Looks like I have to remove the bumper cover to have access to the top bolts. SURELY there is a way to remove the center piece instead of removing the ENTIRE 3 pc assembly. SURELY!

I haven't had to remove either bumper covers on my 4Runner, but I have a link to a topic where you can find the shop manual PDF files that you can download for the front and rear cover components and other files on how to remove the covers.

I remember removing mine a long long time ago, it's all bolt/clipped/screwed together and then installed on the vehicle (assuming my memory isn't faulty).

So you actually have to pop the cover off and the break it down into it's 3 pieces. The good news is that you can get the cover on and off pretty easily as an assembly, so I'd just pop it off and install your hitch.
