2003 T4R voltage output, correct......

I had to jump start my T4R today. It's A 2003 with the original battery. The light still shows it's good, but I don't put much faith in that. Anyway, I was gonna just go get a battery, but I checked the voltage at the battery with it running and it's only 13.58ish.... shouldn't it be at least 14 volts?

Thanks
Dave

That sounds about right, your alternator actually keeps the battery at roughly 95% capacity to buffer out voltage spikes and provide a smoother voltage when charging. At idle you will probably see about 13.5~13.7, should be closer to 14 if you have a lot of loads on and up the idle some.

Yeah battery

Yeah, I agree. Thanks for the voltage info. Being that the battery is 7 - 8 years old that is enough for me to replace the battery. I was just curious if the alt was also underperforming but for now I'm going to say the alt is fine. I'll get a new battery tomorrow.

Thanks
Dave
