2003 V8 Transmission Question

I recently installed a Volant CAI and Borla exhaust system. Since then, I've noticed that when I am going downhill and take my foot off the gas, the transmission will downshift out of overdrive. It shifts back after completing the downhill section. On the Volant unit, one of the vacuum hoses does not fit very tight and I had to modify the MAS hole where it attatches to the CAI. I guess my question is, can a dirty MAS or a vacuum leak or an air leak where the MAS attaches to the CAI cause this behavior or should I be going to a transmission shop? Any thoughts will be appreciated. I suppose I could put the old air intake back and see if there's any difference but I thought i would ask here first. Thanks to everyone in advance.

It is entirely possible that I am wrong on this, but I believe that it is normal for this to happen?

I know my truck will do it on steep descents at least, and I thought I had read something on the topic of "engine braking" in the manual before and assumed it had something to do with that.

I always understood that it was just the truck's way to "braking" down the hill and keeping it from "getting away from you" but I guess I've never asked anyone if it was normal and am not sure.

The transmission has a type of 'hill/grade logic' and does what you describe. I'd say your just noticing 'normal' behavior.

I know it's definitely more apparent because of the rumble of the Borla exhaust. I was also noticing this morning that when moving very slowly, as in bumper-to-bumper traffic, the transmission sort of hesitates sometimes, kind of like it's searching for the right gear. Is this normal as well? Thanks for the responses. I feel better already.
