2003 with 90,000 miles.

Im looking at a 2003 4R with v8 4wd and 90,000 for a little over $10k. Does this seem like a decent deal. What kinda problems can i expect with this high of mileage. thanks

First off, that is a pretty good price. 3rd gen. 4Runners (2000, 01 and 02) can sell for that or higher. 90,000 miles is not terrible. First thing I think of, does it have the black plastic sides or does it look like most 4th gen 4Runners. The black plastic sides was never a favorite to a lot of people and people selling those, there is a slight discount. One thing, I can guess the timing belt was not done and it would or should be done at 90,000 miles. Other things to look for are the normal things that a good mechanic could catch. Also, the V6 had some problems in 03, but the V8 was fine. If things check out, I would think it could be a good vehicle.

Yeah it has the plastic sides. Im not fond of them but its hard finding 4Rs in las vegas for a good price. How much does the 90k service usually run? I've heard up to and over $1000.

There is nothing wrong with the plastic sides, a lot members here like them. Toyota made the sides in the beginning or 03, but changed them later in the year. I just notice lower prices with plastic sides.

Timing belts can cost less, if you shop around, but then you usually get, new water pump, belts, anti-freeze and a really big tune up. It can cost above $1,000. I have read on as high a $1,500. I would definately shop around before you buy. If the 4Runner was taken care of, the V8 with 90,000 miles should be pretty good for many more miles.
