2004 4runner brake master cylinder fail

I was told today by toyota after two years and a case opened through the dealer that my master cylinder is bad.. after three bleeds, my abs brakes are still mushy and close to the floor.. i hate dealers and i am afraid to trust them.. i am a girl with little experience with brakes and they wanted a ton of money like 3200 to fix it.. can someone guide me and possibly lead me to a less expensive part maybe via salvage parts or used..thank you sooo very much.. i was also told that the air being hot on the drivers side on my dual ac system.. also a problem since i purchased new with no results is the radiator for the AC and the actuator inside that ac radiator..any ideas on that.. all together i was quoted over 6k in repairs for a four runner i have been very good to...im really upset and need some solid advice.. thank you very much, [email protected]

I am already too late.I think youtube will be your best companion for guides (if there are any just try your luck) and if your going for surplus parts maybe ebay is a good thing. i think this is the part number (W0133-1803796) for toyota brake master i am too lazy to check for the price since this will be only be for reference just research on your own. I'm no expert so I hope other's chime in. The experience I've had with the T4R brakes is with bleeding them after changing the front calipers. Check the link in my signature to that thread. The master cylinder is electric so it's more expensive but I doubt 3200 bills worth. Are they trying to sell you other brake parts in there (all the pads & rotors) to make a complete job of it (when that's not necessary)?

You say the brakes are mushy but do they work? Do you get the low brake pressure light illuminated on the dash? If not then I doubt it's the master cylinder itself and just needs better bleeding. Search this site for threads about brake bleeding. The ignition needs to be on (power to the master cylinder) to do it right. Where are you located? Ask around and find another shop to diagnose the issue and attempt another bleeding. You don't need a stealership for this work. Salvage part should work if you really need one.

rear break leaks in my Toyota 4runner

I have 2000 Toyota 4runner (4wheel drive) 6 Cylinder, the passenger side rear wheel was leaking break fluid and I changed the break cylinder on both sides. Then the passenger side that had leaked before was fixed but the driver side rear break that was not leaking before started to leak. I thought the cylinder was defective so I replaced the cylinder however I see it leaks again. Strangely, when I opened the drum I do not see leaky oil on the tip of the cylinder but I see a lot of break fluid on the shoes. Would you please help me to figure out what is going on? Thanks

My brakes failed this week on 2004 4Runner SR5 w/ 153,300 miles. Replaced today (5/23/14) New Power Master part 2575.00, installation 315.00

The master cyclinder on my 2006 4x4 SE went south last month. The new master cylinder from dealer was $2350, but i found one from junkyard for $450 and it has been perfect since.
